New Year’s Eve in Dartmouth: What’s Open & Where to Go

Planning to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Dartmouth? Here’s your essential guide to cafés, restaurants, pubs, shops, and more - so you can make the most of your visit and ring in the New Year in style!

Cafés to Start Your Day

Whether you’re after a hearty breakfast or a midday pick-me-up, Dartmouth’s cafés have you covered. Popular spots like Dudleys (9am–4pm), Cafe Alf Resco (7am–2pm), Smith Street Deli (10am–2pm), and Sloping Deck (8am–4pm) will be open. Others, such as Woodroast (10am–3pm), Bespoke (9am-2pm), The Flavel (10-4pm) and Coastal Trail (8am-4pm), offer cosy spots for coffee and treats. Many more cafés are open throughout the day, so you’ll have plenty of choices for a relaxing break.

Bakeries, Delis, and More

If you fancy a snack or want to pick up local produce, visit Cornish Bakery (8am-5pm), Deli @ Dartmouth (10am–4pm), Dartmouth Butchers (8:30am–4pm), Dartmouth Ice Cream Co (10am-4pm), Jilly's Farm Shop (8am-2pm), Salcombe Dairy (10am-3pm), The Bakehouse (8am-4pm) Warrens (10am–4pm), , or the Fish Monger (9am–2:30pm). These spots are perfect for stocking up on treats or grabbing a quick bite.

Shopping & Galleries

Dartmouth’s independent shops and galleries are open for spending any money you received for Christmas, or a little treat to remember 2025! Many, like Pet Shop (9am–4pm), 11 Clothing (9:30am–5pm), Gabriella Shoes (9am–5pm), Distinctly Living (10am-4pm), and Quba (9:30am–5:30pm), have extended hours.

Art lovers can explore galleries such as Coombe Gallery and Studio Dix Neuf (10am–4pm). Don’t miss Dartmouth Community Book Shop (10am–5pm) for a literary escape – and if you’ve managed to lose your reading glasses, nip down to Cooper & Thompson Opticians before 1pm for replacements!

Restaurants: Book Early!

Dining out? Some restaurants are fully booked, but you’ll still find great options. Amalfi offers a set menu from 6–9:30pm (£95), Andria has availability for lunch between 12-2pm, while Embankment Bistro features breakfast and a special evening menu with live music (£95 set menu, 7:30pm–late). Crafty Mussel serves a seafood platter (£50pp, 5–8:30pm), and Creperie Billig et Rozell has a set menu (£85, 12pm–late). Bayards Cove Inn is open from 8am–late, Rockfish welcomes diners from 12pm–9pm, and Yarn is serving burgers between 6-8.30pm.

Be sure to check availability and book ahead where possible.

Pubs & Bars: Celebrate into the Night

Dartmouth’s pubs are ready to help you celebrate in the run up to Midnight! Bar 1620 (12pm-late), Dartmouth Angling Club (5pm-late), Dartmouth Arms (12pm–late, food 1–9pm), Dartmouth Yacht Club (11am-1am), Dolphin (12pm-12.15am), Floating Bridge (11am-late), George & Dragon (11am-1am), Royal Castle (8am-12.30am), Sail Loft (12pm–just before fireworks, food until 4pm), Seale Arms (1pm-late), Seven Stars (12pm-late, food 12pm-5.45pm), The Cherub (12pm-late),The Crab (11am-1am), The Market House (12pm-12am), The Shambles (2pm-9pm), The Ship Inn (12pm-late), The Ship In Dock (12pm-9.45pm), The Steam Packet Inn (12pm-late), and Yarn Bar. 

For those wanting to celebrate beyond Midnight several bars - including Bar 1620, The Crab, Dartmouth Arms, George & Dragon, Seven Stars, and Dartmouth Yacht Club - will stay open for post-fireworks festivities.

Look out for live music and DJs at Sail Loft and Dartmouth Yacht Club, plus karaoke at the Yacht Club and Dartmouth Angling Club.

Fireworks at Midnight and Late Opening Bars

Don’t miss the spectacular fireworks display at midnight on the Embankment, supported by Dart Harbour - a highlight of Dartmouth’s New Year celebrations.

Getting Home: Taxis

Need a ride? Mickey’s Taxis (two drivers, 7am–1am), Bluebird Taxis, Darren’s Taxis, King Caboo, and Merlin’s Taxis are available to help you get home safely after the celebrations.
