There is something undeniably magical about June in Dartmouth. The sun dances across the sparkling waters of the River Dart, our historic, candy-coloured streets are bathed in golden light, and a spirit of joyful warmth fills the coastal air. But this June, our stunning South Devon gem is shining even brighter with an extra splash of vibrant colour
If you didn't already know, June is a worldwide celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community. Rooted in history from the 1969 NYC Stonewall riots, Pride has grown into a vibrant movement dedicated to equality, acceptance, education, and honouring the remarkable accomplishments of the community. While it is a time of pure celebration, it is also an important moment to raise awareness, honour those who came before us, and continue the journey toward equal rights, social justice, and respect for all.
While global Pride celebrations can range from massive corporate parades to large-scale concerts, there is something profoundly beautiful about a tight-knit community gathering right here in our rural corner of Devon.
A Pride for Everyone in Our Welcoming Town
Launched in 2021, Dartmouth Pride has successfully created a wonderfully safe, welcoming space for our local LGBTQIA+ community to connect. Dartmouth has always been a place of kindness and diversity, filled with remarkable individuals from all walks of life. The goal of Dartmouth Pride is to foster an even stronger sense of community unity for generations to come.
This is truly a Pride for all. Whether it’s supporting new same-sex couples moving to the area, celebrating the opening of LGBTQIA+ businesses, standing by friends navigating self-discovery and transition, or offering a helping hand to parents supporting their children who have recently come out—this event is committed to serving every facet of our diverse community.
